Total Remote Control have developed
a system to update remote LED display systems over the Internet
using their Embbeded GPRS technology.
Working with their European Display
partners Asel (www.asel.es), based
in Zaragoza, TRC have demonstrated how information can be provided
from any user to any display around the world.
Using the TRC technology allows displays
to be updated in near real-time wherever they are located, subject
to there being a mobile signal.

ROAMING
Despite the usual problems of roaming,
TRC have now produced a prototype product that needs no physical
interface and can be changed by authorised users on a global
basis.
This will now open an enormous display
market to ASEL, both for new systems and for upgrades to
existing displays.
ADVANTAGES
Both the business and technical advantages
are obvious: just imagine that mobile displays can be placed anywhere
and operate from any PC with Internet access. This means that display
"assets" can now effectively be "timeshared"
by a number of different users or run any number of different messages
with amost real time updates ! These opportunities have never previously
been a practical reality and the potential is enormous.
Even mobile roadside signs that have
diesel powered dot-matrix displays can now be started remotely,
with information sent to them for immediate dissemination, bringing
forward environmentaly friendly traffic or crowd management possibilities.
There is no longer any need to send
service personnel to change displays -- just log on!
The first products will be available
in Spetember 04, with a continuous roll-out over the rest of the
year.
